INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT OF REAR BRAKE CALIPERS (CAMPAIGN 098)

IMPORTANT: DEALERS MUST PERFORM THIS CAMPAIGN ON ALL AFFECTED
VEHICLES PRIOR TO CUSTOMER RETAIL DELIVERY AND
WHENEVER AN AFFECTED VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP FOR ANY
MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR.
IMPORTANT: WHEN A VEHICLE ARRIVES AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT,
ACCESS HYUNDAI MOTOR AMERICA’S “WARRANTY VEHICLE
INFORMATION” SCREEN VIA WEBDCS TO IDENTIFY OPEN
CAMPAIGNS.
DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin provides information on 2011 Santa Fe (CM) vehicles
manufactured between September 28th and November 25, 2010. Improperly machined rear brake
calipers may cause fluid leakage past the brake caliper piston seal resulting in low
brake fluid level warning lamp illumination. To identify the affected vehicles the lot
number marked on the caliper housing must be inspected before attempting any
repair.
VEHICLES AFFECTED – VERIFY THAT THE VEHICLE IS IDENTIFIED AS HAVING
AN OPEN CAMPAIGN VIA WEBDCS:
Model: 2011MY Santa Fe (CM).
Applicable vehicle production date range: September 28, 2010 to November 25, 2010
NOTE: To verify the vehicle is affected, inspect the Lot # ID of each of the
vehicle’s rear brake calipers and compare them to the Lot # Identification
Table on Lot ID’s pages 3,4, and 5 before replacing the rear brake
calipers.
